Give Quinn a notebook that's unmistakably hers. Quinn's Notebook has her name in elegant script over a pink watercolor apple blossom cover.
Quinn comes from an Irish surname, says Behind the Name, an Anglicized form of Ó Cuinn, from the given name Conn. Conn may come from Old Irish words meaning “sense, reason” or “head, chief”, and it was the name of a legendary high king, Conn of the Hundred Battles. That makes Quinn a name with royal Irish roots.
Behind the Name lists Quin as a variant spelling. Quinn is a single crisp syllable, so it rarely needs shortening, though Q is a natural one-letter nickname for a sporty girl.
Quinn Fabray helped make Quinn a girls’ name. Wikipedia says the Glee character, played by Dianna Agron, appeared from the pilot episode on May 19, 2009, as cheerleading captain at William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio. Introduced as a queen bee, she joined the glee club to spy on her boyfriend and stayed, growing up over the series. Behind the Name says Quinn was more common for boys in the US until 2010, the year after she first appeared.
Quinn is a 2010s breakout. US Social Security data has it at 115th in the 2010s, when more than 27,200 American girls were named Quinn. Behind the Name says it ranked 97th for girls and 466th for boys in the US in 2025, and 79th for girls in Scotland.
Quinn is also the surname of a famous jester. Wikipedia says Harley Quinn, real name Dr. Harleen Quinzel, was created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm for Batman: The Animated Series and debuted on September 11, 1992. She was meant to appear in only one episode, but she became a recurring character and joined DC’s comics in 1999. Her alias is a play on Harlequin, the clown of 16th-century Italian commedia dell’arte.
Quinn’s Notebook works just as well for a teenager as for a grandmother. It’s 6" x 9", which fits in most bags, with 160 lined pages and no printed layout to work around. Use it as a diary, a school notebook, a planner or a place to collect quotes and ideas. A name on the cover turns an everyday notebook into something personal.
A plain notebook is useful. One with her name on it is a gift. Seeing “Quinn’s Notebook” on the cover tells Quinn it was chosen for her, not grabbed off a shelf, and that small touch is often what makes people keep a notebook going instead of abandoning it after a week.
How big is Quinn’s Notebook? 6" x 9", or about 15.2 x 22.9 cm. It’s a paperback with 160 lined pages inside.
