June's Notebook is a lined journal with one name on the cover, hers. The name sits in flowing script above a soft pink watercolor apple blossom design.
June is named for the month. Behind the Name says it comes from the name of the month, originally from the Roman goddess Juno, and has been used as a given name since the 19th century. Wikipedia says Juno was the Roman goddess of youth and protection, revered as queen of the gods and goddess of love and marriage, and that her name stems from the Latin root for “young”. June is also a short form of Juniper, Junia, Junius and Junior, Wikipedia adds.
Behind the Name lists Juni and Junie as Scandinavian relatives, and Wikipedia notes that June itself serves as a short form of Juniper and Junia. Junie is the sweet pet form, and Juniper is a fun full name for a June who wants one.
June Carter Cash, a member of the Carter Family and a five-time Grammy winner, co-wrote “Ring of Fire” with Merle Kilgore; it became a hit for her future husband, Johnny Cash. Scottish virologist June Almeida, born in Glasgow, identified in 1966 the group of viruses later named coronavirus, from their crown-like look under the microscope. And actress June Squibb earned an Oscar nomination for Nebraska (2013) and starred in Thelma (2024) in her 90s.
June was a 1920s name that is coming back. US Social Security data has it at 93rd in the 1910s and peaking at 45th in the 1920s, when more than 56,000 American girls were named June, then 52nd in the 1930s and out of the top 200 after the 1950s. Wikipedia says it left the US top 1000 in 1987 but is back, ranked 152nd in 2024, and Behind the Name puts it at 150th in 2025.
June is also a Basque name. Wikipedia says there is an unrelated Basque feminine name June meaning “place of the reeds”, and Behind the Name shows it ranked 3rd in the Basque Country in 2025. Wikipedia adds that the name is well used for girls in Belgium, France and the Netherlands in the 2020s too.
This is a notebook for every kind of June: the student, the list-maker, the diary keeper, the busy mom. Its 160 lined pages and 6" x 9" format suit daily journaling, study, meal plans, goals or gratitude notes. Plain lines mean no rules about how to use it. Her name on the front makes it easy to spot on a crowded desk.
Notebooks tend to multiply on desks and in drawers. One with June’s name on the front is instantly hers: easy to spot, harder to “borrow”, and more personal than a plain cover. For children especially, seeing their own name on something makes it special and encourages them to actually use it.
How big is June’s Notebook? The notebook measures 6 x 9 inches (roughly 15 x 23 cm) and has 160 lined pages.
