Jennie's Notebook is a lined journal with one name on the cover, hers. The name sits in flowing script above a soft pink watercolor apple blossom design.
Jennie is a spelling of Jenny, which Behind the Name says began as a medieval English pet form of Jane. Since the mid-20th century it has mostly been taken as short for Jennifer. Wikipedia notes that Jennie was the more common spelling before the 20th century, so it is the older form, not a modern twist.
Jennie is already a pet name, but Behind the Name lists plenty of relatives, including Jen, Jenn, Jeni, Jenni, Jenny, Jenna and Janie. Jan is listed as a short form too.
Jennie Kim of Blackpink grew up partly in New Zealand before joining YG Entertainment in 2010. Her 2018 debut single “Solo” topped South Korea’s Circle Digital Chart, and Wikipedia says that in 2019 she became the first Korean solo artist to perform at Coachella. Her debut album Ruby (2025) sold a million copies.
Jennie was a Victorian favorite. US Social Security data has it at 32nd in the 1880s and in the top 100 until the 1910s, when more than 23,000 American girls were named Jennie, then 121st in the 1920s and 196th in the 1930s. Blackpink has made it familiar again to a new generation.
Winston Churchill’s mother was a Jennie from Brooklyn. Wikipedia says Jeanette “Jennie” Jerome was born in Cobble Hill in 1854, married Lord Randolph Churchill, and later wrote her memoirs and a play. A popular story credits her with inventing the Manhattan cocktail, but Wikipedia says there is no evidence for it.
This is a notebook for every kind of Jennie: the student, the list-maker, the diary keeper, the busy mom. Its 160 lined pages and 6" x 9" format suit daily journaling, study, meal plans, goals or gratitude notes. Plain lines mean no rules about how to use it. Her name on the front makes it easy to spot on a crowded desk.
Notebooks tend to multiply on desks and in drawers. One with Jennie’s name on the front is instantly hers: easy to spot, harder to “borrow”, and more personal than a plain cover. For children especially, seeing their own name on something makes it special and encourages them to actually use it.
How big is Jennie’s Notebook? The notebook measures 6 x 9 inches (roughly 15 x 23 cm) and has 160 lined pages.
