Delilah's Notebook is a lined journal with one name on the cover, hers. The name sits in flowing script above a soft pink watercolor apple blossom design.
Delilah means “delicate, weak, languishing” in Hebrew, says Behind the Name. In the Old Testament she is the lover of Samson, who betrays him to the Philistines by cutting his hair, the source of his strength. Despite her reputation, the Puritans began using the name in the 17th century, and it has turned up now and then in the English-speaking world ever since.
Behind the Name lists Lila and Lilah as English diminutives. Other languages have their own versions: Dalila in French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, and Delila in German.
The most famous Delilah is the biblical one. Wikipedia says she appears in the 16th chapter of the Book of Judges, where the lords of the Philistines bribe her to discover the secret of Samson’s strength. After three failed attempts, she learns it comes from his hair and has a servant cut it while he sleeps. Rabbinic writers linked her with the mother of Micah, and Cecil B. DeMille filmed the story as Samson and Delilah (1949).
Delilah is a 2010s name. US Social Security data has it at 130th in the 2010s, when more than 25,000 American girls were named Delilah. Behind the Name says it ranked 51st in the US in 2025, 32nd in England and Wales, and 54th in New South Wales.
The Delilah of the hit song was a real runner. Wikipedia says Plain White T’s frontman Tom Higgenson wrote “Hey There Delilah” after meeting Delilah DiCrescenzo, a nationally ranked steeplechase and cross country runner, around 2002. He told her he already had a song about her, which wasn’t true, and she turned him down. The finished song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in July 2007 and was nominated for two Grammys.
This is a notebook for every kind of Delilah: the student, the list-maker, the diary keeper, the busy mom. Its 160 lined pages and 6" x 9" format suit daily journaling, study, meal plans, goals or gratitude notes. Plain lines mean no rules about how to use it. Her name on the front makes it easy to spot on a crowded desk.
Notebooks tend to multiply on desks and in drawers. One with Delilah’s name on the front is instantly hers: easy to spot, harder to “borrow”, and more personal than a plain cover. For children especially, seeing their own name on something makes it special and encourages them to actually use it.
How big is Delilah’s Notebook? The notebook measures 6 x 9 inches (roughly 15 x 23 cm) and has 160 lined pages.
