Where does the name Alaina come from?

Alaina is a variant of Alana, says Behind the Name, probably influenced by Elaine, and Alana is the feminine form of Alan. Wikipedia adds that it can also be a feminine form of the French Alain. The meaning of Alan isn’t known for certain: it may be Brythonic for “little rock”, or it may come from the Alans, an Iranian people who moved into Europe in the 4th and 5th centuries.

Other forms of Alaina

Behind the Name lists Lana as a diminutive, and Alana, Alanna, Alannah, Alayna and Allana as variants. Laney is another easy option.
