A simple, pretty journal made for one person: Aimee. Her name is set in script above pink watercolor apple blossom on the cover.
Aimee is a variant of Amy influenced by the French Aimée, says Behind the Name. Wikipedia says Aimée is a French name meaning “beloved”, with the masculine form Aimé, and is often written without the accent in English. Behind the Name traces the family back to the Roman Amata and Amatus, so every Aimee carries a very old word for love.
Behind the Name lists Ami, Amie and Amy as English forms of the name, Aimée as the French, and Amada as the Spanish. An Aimee can always shorten to Amy among friends.
Aimee Mann, born September 8, 1960, in Richmond, Virginia, is an American singer-songwriter known for sardonic, literate lyrics. Wikipedia says she studied at Berklee College of Music, co-founded the new wave band ‘Til Tuesday and wrote their top-ten single “Voices Carry” (1985). Her song “Save Me” from the film Magnolia was nominated for an Academy Award and a Grammy.
Aimee is a 1970s name. US Social Security data has it at 150th in the 1970s, when more than 19,400 American girls were named Aimee. Behind the Name says it last ranked in the US top 1,000 in 2015, at 911th, and it reached 87th in New South Wales in 1993 and 84th in Ireland in 2013.
An Aimee was a radio pioneer. Wikipedia says Aimee Semple McPherson (1890 to 1944), the Canadian-born evangelist who founded the Foursquare Church, pioneered the use of radio and stage techniques in her sermons. Her Angelus Temple in Los Angeles was dedicated in January 1923, was advertised as the largest single Christian congregation in the world, and by church records received 40 million visitors in its first seven years.
Whether Aimee is eight or eighty, a 6" x 9" notebook is a comfortable size: big enough to write in properly, slim enough to carry. The 160 lined pages don’t come with a set layout, so she decides what it’s for. Journal, planner, class notes, recipes, travel log or doodle book all work. And with her name on the cover, nobody will mistake it for theirs.
Personalized gifts show you thought about the person, not just the occasion. A notebook with Aimee on the cover is affordable, useful every day and still feels special. It’s also a safe choice when you’re not sure of someone’s style, because everyone needs somewhere to write things down.
How big is Aimee’s Notebook? It’s 6" x 9" (about 15.2 x 22.9 cm), with 160 lined pages in a paperback cover.
